The much-anticipated Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on Prime Video on October 29.
