Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden title since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
