Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
